0. Close any open windows

1. Left click on the [Start] button
2. Point to the {Find} option
3. Left click on the [Files or Folders...] selection
4. In the (Named:) field type in "phones.txt"
5. In the (Look in:) field select C:
6. Left click on the [Find Now] button
7. Double left click on the <phones.txt> file located in the directory C:\ProgramFiles\Earthlink
8. This should open the file in Notepad if it's not Notepad point to the file in the Find All
Files window until it turns highlighted then press and hold the SHIFT key and then right
click on the file and then release the shift key and then left click on the [Open with...] option; this will open a window
where you will need to scroll down 4 or 5 times to where you can left click on Notepad
9. Find the line that reads:

1||PLEASE PICK A NUMBER FROM LIST|999|999|9999|V.34|1|11|Modem: 33.6k|0|Y||0|0|0

10. Place a space underneath this line by left clicking on far left hand side of the line
directly below the line shown above and striking the ENTER key
11. Type in a line using the same format as the lines below it substituting the locations
and telephone number for the information you would like to appear in the TA 2.3
phone numbers screen
12. Left click on the [File] button in the Notepad shell and select the {Save} option
by left clicking on it one time
13. Open the TA 2.3 dialer
14. Left click on the configure button
15. Enter the correct 2 letter state abbreviation and locate your new entry in the list
16. Highlight that entry by left clicking on it one time
17. Left click on the [add] button
18. Use the arrow keys in the Add Phone Numbers window to move the
new entry to the top of the (Use the following numbers:) field
19. Left click on the [Apply] button
20. Left click on the [Ok] button
21. Confirm that the number shown as (To be dialed:) corresponds to the number you added

Congratulations you have successfully added a custom number to Total Access 2.3
